ADHD coaching can be an investment. If you’re considering spending several hundred dollars a month, you want to know what you’re actually getting for that money. How much should you expect to pay? How do you know whether a coach is qualified? And how do you tell whether a coach is actually helping?
I’m an ADHD coach, and I offer coaching myself, so I want to be upfront about that. This episode isn’t about convincing you that everyone with ADHD needs a coach. It’s about helping you make a smart decision if coaching is something you’re considering.
This is part 4 of my six-part series on ADHD coaching.
In this episode:
- What ADHD coaching typically costs, and why coaches at the same price can offer very different support
- Paying for coaching: out of pocket, checking your HSA or FSA, and the UK’s Access to Work program, which will actually pay for ADHD coaching oftentimes
- Why price isn’t the same as value, and what you’re actually paying for
- The question to ask yourself: What would need to change in my life for this to feel worth the investment?
- The cost of staying the same
- What to do if coaching isn’t something you can afford right now
- Private vs. group coaching
- How to know if a coach is qualified
- Six questions to ask before hiring a coach, and why the follow-through question matters
- Red flags to watch for
- How long coaching takes, and signs of progress
Six questions to ask before hiring a coach:
- What coaching training have you completed?
- What ADHD-specific training or experience do you have?
- What does a typical coaching session look like?
- What happens when I don’t follow through?
- How do we know if coaching is working?
- What kinds of problems are outside your role as a coach?

Coaching should never be therapy or medical advice. Coaching credentials alone don’t authorize diagnosis, prescribing, or mental health treatment. The price ranges are ADDA’s general ranges, not my rates.
